Mother of two kids jumps onto hood of her moving car to stop thief from driving away

A mother of two children managed to slow down a thief long enough to
stop him from getting away with her car, according to police in
California.

San Bernardino police said that they have arrested 21-year-old Steven
Young, after being accused of driving away with a car, containing the
two children.

Young has been charged with one count of kidnapping and one count of
carjacking. He was booked into the West Valley Detention Center, and his
bail was set at $250,000.

According to the police investigation, the incident unfolded on Sunday around 11:30 p.m.

The woman, who was not identified, parked her car outside the Rocky
Market, to get drinks for her two children who were in car seats in the
back of the vehicle.

The woman left her car running and parked right in front of the store
window so she could watch from inside. Young then jumped into the
vehicle and drove away.

The mother ran out of the store and jumped onto the hood of the car to
try to stop Young from leaving. Young swerved left and right until the
mother was thrown off the vehicle.

Two people in another car noticed what happened and began following Young. Young crashed the car about two miles away and ran.

The children, who are one and two years old, were unhurt, and the two
people that followed Young remained at the scene. A third person who saw
Young running away from the scene and hiding, kept on eye on him until
police arrived.
