A man who posed as a doctor, was arrested after he performed a surgical
procedure on a man who suffered pain the groin following a kick by a
horse, police in Australia said.
Now, 56-year-old Allan George Matthews of Sydney, pleaded guilty to
illegally possessing a gun and two counts of possessing or attempting to
prescribe a restricted substance.
According to the police investigation, Matthews removed tissue from
52-year-old David Hillier, in a motel without consent or authority after
the victim posted an ad on the Internet, asking for help with a medical
problem.
The victim had been suffering pain for years after being kicked in the groin by a horse.
Police became aware of the case when Hillier, checked himself into a
hospital after suffering an infection following the surgical procedure.
Police raided the home of Matthews, where they seized medical equipment,
firearms and four bottles of amyl nitrate. Matthews was not authorized
to perform a procedure of this kind as he is not a qualified or
registered as a doctor.
