Man dressed in pajamas steals cash from cars to fund his pizza addiction

 

A man was arrested on a charge of burglary after allegedly stealing cash
from cars in order to have money to buy pizza, according to police in
Illinois.

Riverside police said that they have arrested 21-year-old Dany Y. Ortiz,
after admitting to being addicted to pizza and stealing cash to support
his addiction.

Ortiz was charged with burglary of a motor vehicle. According to the
police investigation, several cars were burglarized in Cicero over the
past two weeks.

One victim was able to provide police with a license plate of a
suspicious vehicle, and another victim handed over a video, showing
Ortiz entering his vehicle in the driveway of his home.

In the video, Ortiz is seen wearing pajamas and slippers. During
questioning, Ortiz admitted to burglarizing the vehicles. He told
investigators that he was a pizza lover and wanted to try different
types of pizza.

Ortiz still wanted to purchase pizza from several shops, but he had no
money left. That is when he decided to take cash from unlocked vehicles.

Ortiz would steal cash from unlocked vehicles between 5:00 and 7:00 a.m.
He left behind laptops, iPads and other electronic equipment.
