FG extends public holidays for Eid-el Fitr celebration till Thursday July 7th

The Federal Government has extended the public holidays for the
Eid-el-fitr celebration to Thursday July 7th July, 2016. A statement
from the office Minister of Interior Abdulrahman Dambazau which was
signed by the Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Bassey Okon Akpanyung
and released today, states that the extension is as a result of the
decision of the President-General of the Nigerian Supreme Council for
Islamic Affairs, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar III, the Sultan of Sokoto, to
extend the Ramadan fast to today Tuesday July 5th following the
non-sighting of the moon.
