Family of five escape kidnap attempt in Lagos

The Lagos State Police Command foiled a kidnap attempt on a family of
five last weekend. Nine gunmen arrived the Ijon community in Ayobo Ipaja
in a speed boat and stormed the home of one Oluseun Oguyemi, and
attempted to kidnap the man, his wife and three children.
According to Daily Trust, the kidnap attempt was foiled by the police and the suspects subsequently arrested.

The state Commissioner of Police, Mr. Fatai Owoseni, who visited the
community on Monday, July 3, said the police engaged the kidnappers in a
gun battle and rescued the wife and children after the husband escaped.

“The kidnappers came in a boat but as they were escaping with their
victims the police engaged them in a gun duel for close to four hours
and the kidnappers were subdued by the police,” Owoseni said.
