fence, according to police in California.
Fresno police said that no charges will be filed in connection with the incident that unfolded on Monday around 12:30 a.m.
The 33-year-old mother told police that she opened the back door of her
home to allow fresh air to enter the house. She put her newborn baby
identified as Susie Kirby, on the couch and went to use the bathroom.
The woman’s brother had two dogs that were supposed to be chained in the backyard. The woman then heard her baby crying.
She rushed out of the toiler, but by then it was too late. One of the
dogs managed to get into the house and bit the baby’s neck.
The woman’s brother called for help. The baby was taken to the Community Regional Medical Center, where she was declared dead.
The dogs were handed over to the California Society for the Prevention
of Cruelty to Animals, and they will be killed. Police believe that the
death was an unfortunate accident.
