It was supposed to be a happy ending for an elephant that was rescued from a company that used it to give rides to tourists.
However, just one month after being rescued, the elephant died.
The elephant named Sao Noi, spent its life giving rides to tourists in
Thailand. Animal lovers and the staff of Boon Lott’s Elephant Sanctuary,
worked hard to rescue the animal that they said was malnourished and
was forced to work under difficult conditions.
After 60 years of taking people on tours in Sukhothai, the elephant finally retired at the Boon Lott’s Elephant Sanctuary.
According to staff members, the elephant made friends with two other
elephants named Boon Thong and Permpoon, and Sao Noi seemed to love its
new environment.
Sadly, just one month after reaching the sanctuary, Sao Noi collapsed and died.
A funeral was held for the animal. A group of monks from a temple came to bless Sao Noi.
The elephant was buried in the forest, surrounded with pineapples, watermelons, bananas, corn and flowers.
