Court grants billionaire businessman, Jide Omokore, ex NNPC boss, Andrew Yakubu, bail

Justice Binta Murtala-Nyako of the Federal High Court Abuja, has granted
bail to billionaire businessman and an ally to former Minister of
Petroleum, Diezani Alison-Maduke, Jide Omokore.

Also ganted bail is a former Group Managing Director of the Nigerian
National Petroleum Corporation, Andrew Yakubu. Both men and four others
were arraigned in court today over N400 million money laundering
charges.

Delivering judgement in their bail application,
Justice Murtala-Nyako ordered the accused persons to provide bail bonds
of N50 million each, with one surety in like sum.

The sureties must own properties in Abuja and should depose to affidavit
of means. All the accused were ordered to submit their international
passport or passports to the court. They are also to remain in the court
premises until they meet their bail conditions.
