Company ships 200,000 $4 smartphones officially becoming the world’s cheapest

A company in India, began shipping the world’s cheapest smartphones to
customers who preordered them several months ago, when most people
thought it was just a hoax.

The Ringing Bells Freedom 251 cost just under $4.

The company shipped the first batch of 200,000 phones despite suffering a loss of $2.20 on each.

Mohit Goel, who is the found of Ringing Bells, said that he is happy
despite losing a lot of money as his dream of connecting more poor
people in the country has materialized.

The phone is powered by Android 5.1 and has a 4 inch screen.

The phone has a built in rear 8 megapixel camera, 3.2 megapixel selfie
camera. It also has 1 gigabyte of RAM and 8 gigabytes of storage.

Those consumers who want more storage, can add a microSD card in its
slot. The company plans to ship another 200,000 phone next month.

The company said that it might get a government subsidy to help cover its losses.
