A coffee shop in Virginia, is trying to spread politeness by offering
deep discounts to those customers who ask for the drink in a polite
manner.
CUPS Coffee & Tea in Grandin Village, put a sign in front of their
shop, offering a 35 percent discounts to customers who ask for their
coffee along with a hello and please.
The sign reads: “One small coffee $5.00. One small coffee, please $3.00. Hello, I’d like one small coffee please $1.75.
Austin Simms, who is the owner of the CUPS Coffee & Tea shop, said
that he was just trying to be funny. Simms was trying to get his
customer to realize that the people behind the counter need a good word.
He is also trying to promote more tolerance and politeness.
Simms wrote the message on Sunday, and by Monday, his story spread around the world.
