Airport to be named after Cristiano Ronaldo in honour of his and Portugal’s success at Euro 2016

31 year old Cristiano Ronaldo who already has a bronze statue, a museum
and a hotel named after him in Funchal – his birthplace and the capital
of Madeira is to have the international airport in Madeira, Portugal
named after him following his and Portugal’s success at the just
concluded Euro 2016.

President of Madeira, Miguel Albuquerque, on Friday confirmed that the
island’s main international airport will be renamed the Madeira
Cristiano Ronaldo airport.

According to Miguel Albuquerque, the decision is an acknowledgement to
the services and high profile the Real Madrid player has brought to the
region of Madeira and Portugal at large with his football career and
business ventures in the area.
