22 people and not 81 were killed in herdsmen attack in Benue- state police spokesperson says

Spokesperson of the Benue state police command, Moses Yamu, have refuted
claims by residents of the state that 81 people were killed by herdsmen
in their renewed attacks in Ukum and Logo communities in the state in
the last two weeks. In a chat with newsmen yesterday July 12th, Yamu
said 22 deaths were recorded in the recent attacks;

“We recorded about 11 deaths in Ukum and another 11 in Logo based on our
own records. Since the attacks, our crack team have been deployed and
are stationed in the affected areas. There is aggressive patrol in those
areas.”he said

The traditional ruler of Logo council area, Jimmy Meeme, on Saturday
told Channels Television that 70 people have been killed in six out of
the 10 council wards in his domain while other residents of the state
said 11 more were killed in other areas in the state.
