A mother nearly fainted after finding her little girl responsive and
hanging by the string of window blinds, according to police in the
United Kingdom.
Basford police said that 1-year-old Tianna Mooney died while looking out the window around 7:30 p.m.
The child’s mother, Stacey Clarke, told investigators that she put her
daughter to bed at 7:30 p.m. The child’s bed was near the window that
had vertical blinds.
Several blinds were missing, and Mooney often stood up and looked out
the window before falling asleep. 45 minutes later, Clarke went to check
on her daughter and saw her standing in her bed with the string around
her neck.
She picked up her daughter and ran to get help. A neighbor called an ambulance, while another tried to resuscitate Mooney.
Paramedics arrived quickly, but the child was pronounced dead at the
hospital. An autopsy revealed that Mooney died of compression of the
neck consistent with hanging.
