Man sells his collection of 10 million beer bottle caps to raise money for widow and her children

A man collected 10 million bottle caps from around the world. He now decided to sell his entire collection to help a family in need.
Hans Heiland of Vienna, Austria, said that a family suffered a terrible
loss when their beloved 32-year-old father died of a heart attack.

The widow is now raising three very young children alone. The family
also recently bought a house and therefore, they have significant debt.

Heiland decided to give up his collection to help the widow and her children.

Heiland began collecting beer bottle caps after going to a festival and
seeing the amount of metal caps that are being thrown away.

“I decided to start collecting them for a good cause,” Heiland said. It
started with only a few hundred bottles caps, but he now has about 10
million.

However, he did not collect them alone. When people from around the
world learned about Heiland’s passion, they mailed him bottle caps.

Heiland now sold the colorful collection to a scrap dealer for $1,700.

However, before the caps will be delivered to the buyer, it will be on
display at a festival organized by the volunteer fire department in
Amstetten. Money from the festival will also be given to the widow.
