Injured woman refuses to hand over pit bull to police after her husband ordered the animal to attack her

 

An injured woman of Canada, is refusing to cooperate with police after she was attacked by her family’s pet. Police in Montreal, were called to a home after a man allegedly ordered his pit bull to attack his wife.

Mark Leonard, 54, was charged with assault and assault causing bodily
harm after he allegedly ordered his pit bull to attack his 47-year-old
wife.

The judge ordered Leonard to have no contact with animals as he was released on bail.

Montreal police Const. Jean-Pierre Brabant said that the incident
occurred at around 10:00 p.m. on Randall Avenue in the
Notre-Dame-de-Grace neighborhood.

The couple got into an argument and the man ordered the dog to attack his wife.

The woman was bitten on the arm and treated at the scene by emergency workers.

Brabant said that the woman refused to go to the hospital. The victim
also refused to hand over the dog to police as is standard procedure for
an animal that caused harm to humans.

Brabant said that she asked police to drop the charges against her
husband over the attack. However, prosecutors refused to withdraw the
charges.

Police will now have to obtain a court order to remove the dog from the home.

The city of Montreal and several other municipalities are taking steps
to ban pit bulls, and the Quebec government is also considering a ban.
