A teenager whose family was down on their luck, met a good Samaritan who helped turn his life around. The teenager of Tennessee, offered to carry groceries from Kroger to the man’s car in exchange for some donuts.
However, this act has left him with much more than donuts. He received more than $296,000.
16-year-old Chauncy Black approached Matt White in Memphis, and asked if he can help with his groceries in exchange for donuts.
White said that the teen looked like a good kid who was very hungry. He
responded by buying him the donuts and a whole shopping cart.
White soon learned that the teen and his disabled mother were very poor,
and they lived in a house that had no food or furniture.
White, 30, set up a GoFundMe page, hoping to raise $250 to buy the teen a
lawn mower as Black expressed his desire to open a lawn mowing business
to support his family.
Many people donated household items along with a lawn mower for the teen.
The story touched the hearts of many people who donated money through GoFundMe. So far, they received $296,570 in donations.
The money will be placed in a trust to ensure that the cash is put to
good use. A portion of the money will be put aside for Black’s education
and some is being used to help his family move to a new home.
