Gun shop owner shot dead by his student during a gun safety class for carrying concealed weapons

 

A community is devastated over the loss of a beloved man who was known for his big heart and his readiness to help others.
James Baker, 64, owned the Kay Jay Gun Shop in Amelia, Ohio. He serviced the weapons for the local police force and he gave classes on gun safety.

On the fateful day, he had a class of 10 people who were there for a concealed carry class.

Sadly, one of his students accidentally discharged a gun. Police said that the bullet traveled through a wall and into a room.

Baker, who was sitting inside the room, was hit in the neck and died at the scene.

Clermont County sheriff AJ Rodenberg said that Baker, was shot in the neck around 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
