Park Rangers in India, have arrested 18 lions after the animals attacked six people in the last two months.
Officials of the Gir sanctuary, said that the 18 lions were locked up
and are being investigated to determine which one is responsible for the
attacks that killed three people.
Investigating are testing paw prints and excrement to determine the guilty one.
The lion that will be found guilty of the attacks, will spend the rest
of its life behind bars and will receive daily beatings while the others
will be released in the wild.
JA Khan, who is the chief of Parks, said that the 18 lions were caught
separately and they are being held in 18 cages. Khan said that
investigators have already pinpointed the guilty lion, but they are
waiting the final results of additional tests.
The Gir sanctuary accommodates 270 lions, forcing some prides to settle in nearby forests, where they can attack humans.
