OFFICIAL: Everton sack Martinez

Everton have confirmed manager Roberto Martinez has “left his position”
at the club as a dismal Premier League campaign nears its end.

The Spaniard leaves Everton on the back of a poor run of just one win
in their last 10 league games, with the club currently sitting 12th in
the table with one match to go.

Martinez joined the Toffees in 2013 and guided them to a record
Premier League points haul (72) and fifth place in his first season in
charge and the club have thanked him for his efforts on Merseyside.

“Everton Football Club regrets to announce that Roberto Martinez has
left his position as first team manager with immediate effect,” the club
confirmed in a statement.

“The chairman and the board of directors would like to place on
record their thanks for the dedication and commitment Roberto has shown
during his three seasons with the club. Roberto has been a great
ambassador for the club, conducting himself, at all times, with the
utmost integrity and dignity.
