Female passenger on British Airways flight restrained after trying to force open exit door

A female passenger on a British Airways flight from Heathrow to Boston, Massachusetts, was restrained this evening after attempting to force open an exit door mid-journey, police have said.
Flight 213, which had departed from London at 11.57am GMT, was tens of thousands of feet in the air when the unidentified woman started forcefully trying to open the plane door, officials said.

Despite the incident, the plane landed safely at Logan International Airport at around 6.30pm, where it was met by Massachusetts State Police troopers, who took the passenger into custody.

Police said the woman was ‘intoxicated’ – and has no known links to terrorism at this time.

Although it was initially reported that the woman had attempted to storm the cockpit mid-flight, a BA spokesman confirmed to ABC New York that the passenger had tried to open an exit door.
