Nigeria’s oldest secondary school student dies at 94

Nigeria’s oldest secondary school student, Mohammud Modibbo died yesterday September 10th at the age of 94. A JSS 2 student of School for Arabic Studies (SAS), Mohammud who was unable to go to school as a child because he worked as a trader, decided to enter primary school in his mid-80s.

Speaking about Mohammud, his teacher Abdulkarim Ibrahim, who is pictured above with him said he was a jolly good fellow.

“During classes, he was very attentive and asked questions when he didn’t understand, either asking the teacher or a student sitting beside him,” he told BBC Hausa service.

His teacher said the late Mohammud had dreamt of going to a University.
