Man bags 3-year jail term for impersonating as DSS, Police officer

A 22-year-old man, Aladegolu Victor, was on Friday sentenced to three years imprisonment by an Osogbo Magistrates’ Court, for impersonating as Directorate of State Security (DSS) and Police officer. The Magistrate, Mr Olusola Aluko, said the convict should serve the jail term due to the gravity of the offence.

The prosecutor, Insp. Fagboyinbo Abiodun, had told the court that the convict committed the offence in Ile-Ife, on Aug. 9, 2014 during the last gubernatorial election in Osun. Abiodun said the convict wore a uniform with inscription of the DSS and Police within the vicinity where he was apprehended.
He said the offences contravened Sections 516, 108(1), 109(b), 249(3) of the Criminal Code Cap 34 Vol. 11 Laws of Osun, 2003. The convict had pleaded guilty to the five count charges against him.
