Scrubs’ Sarah Chalke has joined Rainn Wilson in Fox’s midseason drama Backstrom, TVLine reports.
Chalke will play Amy Gazanian, the ex-fiance of Wilson’s titular detective. Though she left him 10 years ago, Amy continues to have lingering feelings for the trauma-riddled Backstrom. But now that she’s been appointed the Chair of the Civilian Oversight Committee, Amy will have to put her feeligns aside and make an eye of Backstrom’s ethically questionable behavior.

“When we first began our search for this crucial character we all agreed that we needed someone like Sarah Chalke,” exec producer Hart Hanson said. “Imagine our glee when we actually scored the person most like Sarah Chalke in the world —Sarah Chalke!”
Chalke, who is best known for her role on Scrubs, most recently appeared on the short-lived ABC comedy How to Live With Your Parents (For the Rest of Your Life).
